The inaugural season of the new league format is only in its second week, and we’ve already seen a number of fleeces, breakout performances, and demands to #cancelthecommish. In one of the most shocking developments of the week, Saagar traded Dean his farm system for Tony Pollard and Mark Andrews. When asked by ESPN’s AJ Johnson about the move, Saagar simply said “This is our year”. He will be on suicide watch when he and the Cowboys lose in the first round. Saagar also traded Aidan Tyler Lockett for James Cook, a move AJ described as a “holy fleece”. Owners also grew heated over the commissioner’s proposed restrictions on trading draft picks, which could lead to tanking and anti-competitive behavior. Apparently Ian doesn’t believe in a free-market system.
While Nikith was heavily favored in this matchup, Aidan jumped out to a lead in the early window until Tee Higgins showed up and Polynesian phenom Puka Nucua absolutely balled out with 30 points. Danny Dimes also came out of nowhere to add 30 for Nikith, who looks like a legit contender. Bad beat for the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but Aidan made his case that he’s the best 0-2 team in the league and will put up a fight this season. The TJ Hockensen trade looks good for him and the future is bright. When asked about his team, Aidan said, “Big trust”.
In one of the most hilarious twists of the week, Dean pulled off the comeback win over Saagar just days after plundering his farm system. Dean, who appeared to be embracing the “Tank for Caleb” strategy with first round pick Ja’marr Chase playing like a bum, actually declared defeat in this game before the Monday night slate. Then, the Steelers D had a legendary performance and Jamaal Williams went down early. Every week keeps proving that defense does in fact win championships.
Perhaps the most fraudulent 2-0 team in the league, Ian squeaked out an ugly win over Vamsi. With Breece Hall disappearing like an F-35 and Calvin Ridley betting against himself, Ian needed Saquon and Davante to explode for 27 and 20 respectively. Ian is still looking for his second franchise QB with Kenny Pickett underperforming again, while Vamsi’s team has skill issues up and down the roster. Fantasy football doesn’t get much more ugly than this.
In the Battle for Unit 2, Pete established an early lead and never looked back. Holding AJ’s team to just 117 points, Pete busted all over the place with 162 behind Keenan Allen’s 31. Clearly some external motivation played a role in this blowout. You could say that, once again, Pete took out the trash.
In what Kiran described as his “worst week of football ever”, everything went wrong for Special K as his star RB’s knee went the direction of his fantasy season. With no Chubb, Kiran went limp against Lorkizzy on Monday night, losing by two points while D’Andre Swift sat on his bench with 27. Lorcan looks like a solid squad, but the real takeaway from this game is that Kiran has a legit shot at becoming the first champ-to-sacko fall in league history.
Tuffington Performance - Breece Hall (0.9 pts)
